A little thread question

Post by ThePipster » Thu Nov 10, 2011 11:06 pm

I need to replace the screws that secure the cover plates on top of my control column, which itself is a butchered yoke from a PA-28 Warrior or Arrow. I have tried 4-40 screws and they are slightly too big.

Does anybody know the correct size of screw and thread I should be using?

Thanks in advance

I dont know the thread but it will almost definately be American. If you need a tap to recut the thread try www.tracytools.co.uk in Devon (01803 326430). They have taps and dies for threads you have never even heard of, they are quick and cheap too. I cant advocate you do this but if its a non structural cover plate then check with your engineer if you can tap it out #6 UNC or #8 and use standard size american screws.
