oil consumption

A common cause of "fairly sudden" low compression, coupled with high crankcase pressure and oil from the breather, is when the piston ring gaps line up. With the fairly generous clearances on these engines, the rings although correct when assembled, can eventually migrate round the piston and line u...

webter distributors

Rob, I had a word with Ron at the meeting and asked him your question.
In his usual understated way, he said their are 7 lobe cams in the (Bosch based) distributors, but he had to make them himself!!

I too enjoyed the video, in fact I enjoyed it about the 10th time I watched it.
Since seeing Nestor Slepcev doing "impossible" things, in a high wind at Cranfield, I have admired these aircraft. So ugly that only it's mother could love it, but so capable and that bit different.

Regional rallies

It's all down to weather isn't it? If conditions are not suitable, then there is a shortage of aircraft. The enthusiasts don't hang around. The stallholders complain of no customers, and say they won't bother next year. Although I would love to see a big rally back, I can understand why there may not b...

oleo pressure

Oily foam means there is a slight leak from the hydraulic side into the nitrogen pressure side. Assuming this is a normal oleo? A rapid de-pressurize will cause it to blow foam. It will probably blow back up ok though. There is a "walk round" pack on e-bay, in the aviation section. All the required ...

oil filters

My view on this is that "high pressure" filters could be better described as "full flow" where all the circulating oil is pumped through the filter. Some older vehicles had a "by pass" filter where a percentage of the circulating oil was filtered. One of these by pass types would not be suitable to ...

There is not a lot of attractions along that coast. I can only see this being an asset to the area. The wise Mr Pugh, would probably have a different attitude if a local group, rather than "B****y foreigners" isn't it? were behind the venture. You only have to visit the Caernarfon area by car, to see...

type forums

There was of course, once Type Forums on the old BB.After about the last but one "revamp",I couldn't find them. I e-mailed Penny direct, to see what I was doing wrong. She said due to so little use,by the people who aught to have been posting in them,it was decided to remove the Type Forums during t...

NPPL Stuff

I have been looking for the NPPL section. Can't seem to find it on the new site. You used to be able to download any forms you needed, and there were links to DVLA for notes on medicals etc.Am I just missing it,or has this section yet to be included? :?

What's the problem Nick? Do you consider all members now start again from year zero? I shall consider myself a member since whenever it was I joined the old PFA,no doubt the EC member has done the same.

new laa

Come on lads, you all know that new websites can have teething problems. I have just spent 20 minutes, going round and round registering, but I seem to be in now? Lets not get this new forum full with unfair or unnecessary criticism before it gets going. The old one was getting boring. Bloody boring i...
