Reduced volume in headsets when radio is turned on.

Post by Adrien Kentzer » Sun Jul 11, 2010 11:19 am

I,ve just purchased a new aircraft recently and noticed when flying her back that when the Microair 760 radio is switched off, communication between P1 & P2 is excellent via the Sigtronics intercom, BUT, turn the radio on and volume is reduced by a good half but radio reception is bloomin loud.
Can anybody steer me into solving this problem or is it the design of the systems.
Headsets used have been DC H10 13.4 (NON ANR) and also Zulu lightspeed.
thanks

Look at the installation instructions for the Sigtronics intercom, which covers this point. It involves inserting a resisitor and works fine.

Details here though you may have to search the website if yours is not one of the ones this applies to.

Headsets

Hi Polski,
Are you using two types of headset simultaneously? If so, they may have different impedence. Use a matched pair of two identical headsets. That might fix the problem.

My understanding, having just bought a Signtronics I/C (SPA-400), is that they have the benefit of being able to accept heasets of differing impedance. As I use an old Icom A20, the 220 ohm resistor in the headphone circuit, is a mod I'll be using.
