Well we got a bunch of Luscombes in (not homebuilt but they still allowed us in). A bit breezy and bumpy but LAC were their usual welcoming selves.
The weather was not kind to the Luscombe Tour, we ended up with Croft Farm - Wellesbourne Mountford - Sywell - Leicester rather than the planned Croft Farm - Tatenhill - East Kirkby - Saltby - Sywell - Hus Bos - Bidford - Ledbury - Shobdon.
Still dinner in the Oak at Defford and at Sywell were convivial and it was all great fun. Special thanks to the very welcoming and helpful lady in the tower at Wellesbourne who waived the landing fee for three of us on a weather diversion having run into low cloud and rain en route to Sywell.

Well the weather was fine but windy and thus exceeded the safe limitations of many of the types we hoped to see.
Thanks to all who came in far from ideal conditions, especially the Luscombe Club who diverted to us on their tour.
Of particular note were Steve Stride in the Starlet, David Conway in the WAR FW190, the three Tailwinds and John Mellor in the Vari-eze G-LASS, the aircraft that won the Best Homebuilt (Air Squadron Trophy) 30 years ago this July at the PFA Rally Leicester. I will place some links to photos of the event later this week.

Well done Stuart Mac for organising the event, as John says it was rather windy which was a shame and undoubtedly kept numbers down. Good to see the three Tailwinds parked together. I went to the Leicester PFA Rallies by road, it blew a hooly one of those years (1980?) too.
Despite the wind on Sunday and poor weather on Saturday, the SSDR Rally from Sywell went ahead and a few hardy souls managed some lengthy flights. The farthest travelled - yet to be confirmed - also won the LAA Technical Innovation £100 cash prize (judged by LAA Chief Technical Officer and myself). He got well into Scotland (and back) with his Chaser Flexwing which he had modified by fitting a Solo Briggs and Stratton conversion in place of the Rotax 447, and also lightened with home-made carbon pod to comply with SSDR regs. Several powered paragliders got as far as York, and the Reality Kid got up to Newcastle and back.
