Intruder alarms

Post by Brian Hope »

Does anybody have any suggestions for the very loud sirens that are too painful to remain within the building when triggered. Seems a 12 bore activated by a trip wire is illegal. We've been turned over twice in a month and though the theft of fuel from the aircraft is a pain, the unnecessary damage caused is the real problem. Any suggestions on equipment and where to get it gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi Brian,

try this, can't tell you if it is legal for ground usage:

Electric:

143 dB, painful by experience up to 20 m in open space, I can't tell you inside, but I don't want to try.

Are they stealing avgas? If so, at least you can console yourself that the ignorant b*stards are ruining their catalytic converters!

There called a Master Blaster

There a 240 volt Klaxon (with 12v relay built in for triggering)

Any alarm company will be able to supply you one, there about £120

The master blaster is the way to go (if you have 240VAC) I have one in my workshop and the noise is unbelievable the b***ers wont be able to nick anything as they will be running around with their fingers stuck into their ears.
Put it high up where you can see it but can not reach it they wont be able to stay in the hanger long enough to disable it.

Good luck

Hi Brian

The ones I've seen are the fire alarm sounder which are designed for use in high ambient noise evironments (factories etc.)

I feel these are reasonably priced for a good output.

Hi Brian,

The fire alarm sounders should do the trick, they are extremly noisey! I will have a word with Damian as he works within that industry. Call me if you need Damian phone number?

Thanks everybody for the ideas and information. We are currently installing a range of equipment based on the above, hopefuly that will make the scumbags leave us alone and choose a softer target.
