Sherwood Ranger - New Project

Post by EdTermini » Wed Apr 18, 2012 10:00 pm

I've very recently started my project - a Sherwood Ranger. I've looked back through these posts as far as 2008 but can't find anything on this type. Does anybody else own one/built one/still building one that would like to offer any hints and tips for the build. This is my first build project, I have a reasonable amount of engineering knowledge but other than enthusiasm, there's a lot I don't know. In fact I can honestly say I don't even know what I don't knows so far!! So, if anybody has any advice, I'd love to hear it!

I'm also very interested in the Sherwood Ranger. I am just beginning to consider a self-build when I expect to retire from the RAF later this year. There seems to be a slow but steady increase in information on the TLAC website, but a forum on there would certainly be useful. There seems to be a few UK builders on the Yahoo forum as well who might help.

Which version are you looking to build and where in the UK are you? What engine are you intending to use?

The Ranger appeals with the simple wing-fold and the nice lines. I'll be interested to hear how you get on. Are you planning to keep some sort of blog?

Cheers,
Ed Burrows

After Russ Light's prototype, mine was the first to fly in the UK. I have to say this aircraft was a delight to build, fly and own.
