I gether the WW1 airfield at Stow Maries is for sale. The asking price is 2 million quid but I gether the land is worth as farmland around 750k. Sounds a bit optimistic to me as there is a strict limit to the number of movements and the vast majority of buildings are derelict.
Much of it is listed and the total income from rental on the bungalo and hangerage is about £15k. There was a deal with PPS to hanger much of their overflow but it didn't happen.
it will be a shame if this last remaining WW 1 airstrip finally gets the chop.

Fortunately the site and the buildings are now listed so it is unlikely that the site will be lost to a developer wanting to convert it into a housing estate or industrial park. The current owner has done a lot of work bringing the airfield back to life and has been restoring a number of the buildings. It will be a shame if he does have to sell it on because he has put a lot of time, effort and money into it and it is on the cusp of becoming a 'must visit' experience for aviation enthusiasts. It also has a lot of local appeal with big crowds attending air shows there. Unfortunately this year's event was washed out due to weather.

Oh I agree, lots has been done but it's a bit like a part built aircraft project. Only worth a fraction of the money spent until it's finished. It would need a huge amount spent on it to get a viable museum there and I can't see anyone doing that. I may be wrong and I look forward to developments there with interest.
