Inspection cover sought

Post by dmcnicholl » Sat May 02, 2015 10:20 pm

I'm looking for a source of these slightly domed aluminium, snap-in inspection covers. You know the things. They're about 12cm diameter with a springy strap riveted across the rear.
Any recommendations on where to buy them?

Do you mean these?

If so they are available from LAS Aerospace.

Yes, John, that's what I mean.
I did look in the LAS website and I found the page you link to but the items listed there don't have pictures and their descriptions don't gel with what I need. They are all described as being of plastic.
I'll give them a call after the bank holiday and see what they can do. Thanks for the reply.

The plastic bit in the description is the ring which is cemented onto the fabric during covering.

Tip:
a vast number of LAS parts come from Aircraft Spruce. AS have better descriptions and sometimes more photos of the parts. Find the AS part number in their online or paper catalogues, and search for it in the LAS tab labelled 'Aircraft Spruce'.

Ian, many thanks, that works. I'd not thought of going about it in that way.

Funny how things turn out.
Met with new inspector at our group aircraft today, and one of the first thing he said was that I will need to cut out and fit two new inspection plates in the wing fabric. :)

Ian, how disappointing for you but no, I really cannot take responsibility for that. :)
I have my despatch note from LAS and I expect the covers will be with me tomorrow for LAS are always surprisingly quick.
