Can I please have some feedback regarding Charity Flights in an LAA Permit aircraft.

Chris,

Just watch out as the regulation only refers to 'registered charities', so offering flights in the local church raffle for repairs to the bell tower or something similar are probably not covered ...

Surely this revised CAA guidance on charity flights provides an ideal opportunity for the LAA Strut governance requirements on Third party Passenger Flying to be revisited. http://www.lightaircraftassociation.co. ... s/TPPF.pdf
These were originally drawn up in 2012 to make passenger flying by members at Strut events more accountable but became unnecessarily restrictive after the Board's consultation with the CAA. Now's the chance for the Board to redress the situation as part of the ongoing review of our Governance.

Hi Mike, that very point was made the day the CAA announced the change and I am assured it is on the chairman's list of things to review in the ever-changing regulatory environment we currently find ourselves in. However, the overriding concern at the time of he YA clampdown was of liability, and the change in the CAA's approach to charity flights, though very welcome, does not fundamentally change that situation. Let's hope we can see a more workable approach to YA flying when the topic is reviewed though.
