LAA Rally 2016 - Thanks

Post by Simon Brooke » Wed Sep 07, 2016 12:13 pm

Another great day out - thanks to everybody involved :D

I am now retired after working for some 40 years in aviation related jobs, and am pretty-well wheelchair bound.

The annual LAA shindig at Sywell is at the top of my list of favourite outings - well organised, very disabled friendly, and full of wonderful flying machines owned and flown by people who care about aviation.

I was particularly impressed this years with the amount of camping gear which can be fitted into a Jodel D.117 8)

My photographs from Friday are on Flickr at....

Great pics Simon. I thoroughly enjoyed it too.
And one of the 117's with camping gear just may have been mine.

Beautiful pictures Simon, thank you for sharing them. I agree entirely with your sentiments about the rally, it's my favourite event and at this time of year now it seems a depressingly long time until the next one....!

Well done Simon........Brilliant shots.

I am very glad to have seen them and rather gutted that I was unable to get away from work that weekend , as I kept looking skyward and hoping that all was going well up at Sywell.

Alan's comments made me chuckle a bit as well , reminded me a bit of PFA member and deliciously non-PC comedian, Brian Newbold , who used to literally bring the place down with his comedy routine.

One of his opening lines at Cranfield one year was :
"Any lady pilots here" ? [ small response] "How the f*** d'ya get an ironing board in the back of a Jodel".
Needless to say , the place erupted in laughter. [ don't crucify me,,,I'm only quoting   ]

Indeed it was - G-BJOT was one of three D.11 family Jodels which prompted my observation :D
