If you cannot borrow one try these people - excellent (24hr) service and good to deal with - I don't think their prices are excessive.

Thanks IanIan Pearson wrote:Try Tracy tools, Dartmouth.
Always good service.
Don't fancy spending best part of £100 for the 2 holes I need to ream!

Oops - finger working quicker than brain! - sorry
I was thinking of Tracy tools at Torquay -
https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q= ... ls+torquay
if they are the same as Dartmouth then I don't have another suggestion.
I have the same problem with having to buy a tool for just one job - very frustrating but have to bite the bullet sometimes.

Out of interest, does anyone know how to convert taper ratios
The taper pin I need the reamer for is 0.516" per foot taper, and the reamers shown on Tracy Tools is 1:48. I don't think these are the same, but not sure!

FWIW.
~1/2" in 12" =1 in 24.
Or using your fig's it's 1 in 23.25 ?

Looks like I will have to sell a digit or small organ and buy from Aircraft Spruce

Sean,
I don't actually know much about the hole you seek to ream, or the material.
If Ali and a one off merely sizing the existing hole, maybe one could turn a piece of steel in a lathe and cut perhaps three longitudinal slots & use with care. A hardenable steel heat treated after doing the tool manufacture may be better.
Or actually try and find a 'tool maker' or machine savvy maintenance guy and have a chat. Usually there's a simple tried and tested if ingenious way of achieving your wishes.
If the part could be removed and set up in a lathe 4 jaw chuck then the cutting tool is easily set to whatever angle you require and the job's done.
If alternatively - e.g. like the Jodel u/c wheel axle, which has a taper pin securing the wheel, then being a hollow tube it's only necessary for each end to have a different diameter.
Lastly there are simple tools called a 'Hand reamer' : a sort of double edged curved blade with a handle and one scrapes the hole as required bit by bit, offering up the object you're seeking to insert, using Engineer's Blue to see how well it's going and 'Hey Presto' you've Done it.

Hi Seanjd.
I have in my hand two taper reamers that are .247" / .370" with a length of cutting edge 2.287"
Seems to be correct, difficult to measure accurately on taper + these things are designed to go through until depth is reached so actual diameters are not vital, taper angle is more important.
If you have not yet dispatched an arm and a leg to Aircraft Spruce.
Please telephone 07985626046
Sorry I'm a bit late noticing this.
I also note that this is a No 0 Morse taper pin reamer.

If you are not sorted, I think I have one I used on a Jodel leg to pin the aerofoil shaped slider.
