water temp issue , help !

Post by mumdad696969 » Sat May 27, 2017 11:57 am

I have an issue with my water temperature gauge on a 582 , it was OK , but now , as soon as you switch the master on , it shoots up to Max ! I've traced the wires back , no shorts anywhere , that only leaves the sender in the engine block ??

Think you may have answered your own question there Mike.

Normally when testing a temp.gauge or a fuel qty gauge , if you remove the cable from the sender and place it directly to earth, it will give full-scale deflection. That tells you pretty much that it's the sender.
Always look on the bright side mate , it's cheaper than the gauge to replace.. :D
