Claim re contribution towards the cost of 8.33 kHz radio

Post by Ian Law »

My claim was submitted last year and I'm still waiting for my modest refund.

Is there any likelihood of this turning up in the near future, ideally before this time next year?

I assume we are still expected to be patient - my patience is now wearing thin.

I received an email last week to say "The CAA will make rebate payment in December by BACS transfer into your nominated account."

Not long to wait now.

Was yours in the 3rd tranche?

Not sure if it was the 3rd tranche but I sent my original claim in on 16th September 2018.

That's the third I think. I submitted one for a FWI* and he's been asking for his money.

Must have been some kind of divine intervention involved?

I have also now received an e mail advising that my refund is due next week. I almost cheered.

Maybe The Refund Department and Flight Crew Licencing are having a race - to see who can take the longest to accomplish a simple task. Nothing at the CAA takes less than months...

But, not to be churlsish, my Christmas ski-trip is half-paid-for...

Yup, email received here too.

It's not even my radio and money though so I don't know why I'm getting excited. :D

As I understand it, there has been just one chap doing the whole refund thing. Bob, for it is he, has been responsive to enquiries, helpful and unfailingly cheerful in his e-mails. It's not the people but the organisation that would appear to require a huge shake up (such that more people end up at the sharp end doing the work).

I assumed that might be the case Nic and have thanked Bob, accordingly.
