I'd just like to make a very public vote of thanks to the Devon Strut for their efforts this weekend.

It's easy to ignore, conveniently, the amount of organisation required to put on the Rally for an unknown number of attendees, so before I write up my logbook I thought I'd mention it. When do strut members have time to just play? They're alway seem to be busy with Scouts & Teachers & Education & organising fly-ins and the odd rally or two. It was a great event with superb hospitality and any 'formalities' managed with a very light touch. This also applies to everyone connected with the airfield.

Thank you everyone.

I'll second that. Thank you Dunkeswell! Had a great weekend - first flyout and camp over that I've done. :D
However by the time I got there at abou 5pm most were on their way home or about to set off. An omen for the weather if ever there was one! The trip back was a bit challenging though! Good job I was in a mates Arrow and not my Jodel (cracked sump :( )

I did hear that some planes arrived, stopped, looked around and then left without paying. It was only a fiver! Where's your conscience people?

Well if that did happen then at least one of them was offset by me paying despite not looking around and leaving after a princely ten minutes, having only popped in to pick up a passenger for Project Propeller. Air Westward had agreed to waive the landing fee as they considered the veteran reunion a "good cause", but on arrival I was told pleasantly but firmly that they were not running the show so a fiver it was. Bit embarassing to have to leave my rather elderly passenger standing while I scuttled back to the aeroplane for money but would have been more so to make a fuss so I coughed up and left.

Still looked a good day out though, and the occasional lack of communication is bound to happen I suppose.

I hope the few who defaulted are the same few who moan about everything else in Laa Laa Land and therefore can be designated a small, if deplorable, minority. Judging by the comments on the Fly-Ins forum, the majority enjoyed things in the traditional spirit of such events.

Off topic: Leiafee, it seems that there was a randomness about the waiving of fees for P.P. The (in)famous Rans driver reported that mention of it had the desired result at Fairoaks, although I believe others weren't so lucky. I admire the effort & significant flying hours most of you put in to do it.
