b.b.fly out

Post by J.C. » Mon Jun 30, 2008 9:21 pm

Following much interest in other postings on here and P.M.s I received, how about a bulliten board fly out to St.Omer in july(3rd weekend?)
Nice trip for a first channel hop, maybe go Friday pm and return Sat. help is on hand for first timers.
May even be able to meet up at (say)headcorn and go over en-mass with experianced crew sitting in with less experienced pilots for example.
4or 5 planes already up for it,any (polite) suggestions welcome

Sounds like a great idea and well done for pushing the ball, hopefully it will start rolling. Personally I can't make the 2nd or 3rd weekend in July unfortunately, but good luck with the event. As a matter of interest, where do you intend to clear into and out of France ?

The idea would be to route via Calais to keep it simple, but given that they need prior notice and the disapointing response from this post,it aint looking good!
Shame because many people have posted on here about first trips over to France and when the offer is there to help ,it all goes quiet! The only ones so far to express any interest are the old hands. But hey come on you guys, there is still time! Weekend of the 19th is looking favourate . :P

Sounds like a plan. Have you ordered some sunshine? I'll be at Heathrow collecting relatives, how about the weekend after?

Hi John, I think a lot of people have pre-made plans this time of year, there's so much else on. Maybe try it later in the season.

BB flyins are always a good idea! I think the only way to do it is early flying season or late. You have to avoid the “kids holidays” as lots of us will be away, and accommodation can be a problem.

If you do go for it I will try to make it!

Fair comment Brian, but the weather earlier in the year wasn't that good, its only a few weeks to the big one at St.Omer and then the nights start drawing in.
Just not enough time/weather available in the short season(perhaps that's something else for w*****m** to have a go at the LAA for!).
