We are looking closely at purchasing a Piel Emeraude to form a group around in Yorkshire. We have noticed looking at the G-INFO list, and those for sale that they are either C90 or 0-200 powered, with MTOW's of 610kg, 650kg or 700kg. It appears that all C90's are 610 or 650kg and most O-200's are 700kg but some are 650kg. Can anyone explain why there are different MTOW and does the useful load increase with the step up in MTOW?
What is performance like of both the C-90 and O-200 at or near MTOW?
Many thanks for any info you can give us.

There are a couple of threads on Flyer - but I guess you were probably involved with them.
The Emeraudes were licence built by quite a number of French and German manufacturers and so there are some large variations. My understanding is that the early ones have more payload than the late ones - typical aircraft 'development' i suppose. Certainly the sliding canopy versions seem a lot 'heavier'.
Mine was a Coopavia 301A and the numbers are in the Flyer thread. The 'Cs' are quite nice but IIRC quite a bit heavier - the mauw was increased to try and maintain payload.
Your only real option is to find the aircraft and then carefully look at the W&B . Oh and make sure it is fairly recent.....
