Flintstone has given specific feedback about a visit to a specific strut. If it is a true recount of what happened then he has done LAA a service bringing this to our attention. If it a fabrication then the lies would be on Pprune for posterity. Would anyone risk his online persona in such a way? What I don't think we should do is simply ignore or write this off as mischief.

Hello to all from a new member. :D
I live in Austria and have joined for several reasons.
I am building a 601xl and will bring it to the UK (eventually), so using the LAA as a advice line without being a member would not seem right to me.
Second the IEC ( Austrian experimental club ) is now taking on more roles akin to the LAA but the Austro control (CAA) like anything approved here by the LAA (PFA) as they do not have the facilitys or manpower to have and engineering dept for our class of plane.

I must say that some time ago I was pretty negative about the then PFA but now in my situation and having done much research I find the organisation very usefull.
Best point I can raise is the impression that when people ask about the LAA they come away with a view of a overtly "nanny state" kind of mentality. This may be the intiale view as underneath surface it seems more flexible . I would sum up by saying that comunication and a FUN image are the areas that need some work.

Hope I have not P"$$§ed anyone off but just my thoughts

ps Any chance of getting spell check on this forum ?

Welcome to the LAA and good luck with the build! Some of the membership may come over as “about as user friendly as a cornered rat” to quote a marketing friend of mine, but knowing some of them they are much friendlier face to face.

Hi all,
a very useful spellcheker that integrates with IE can be downloaded HERE, Just right click it and select save target as and run it when you download it. It is about 2mb in size. This file is on my server and is safe.... very useful spellchecker for internet explorer..... or go one better, download firefox.
