LAA AeroExpo 12-14 June, Wycombe AirPark. Fun and Affordable

Hi All
Just a quick reminder that this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the LAA will be at Wycombe, in force. Many LAA aircraft will be flying in and we've got two large marquees with all manner of appropriate goings on inside - engines, airframes, riveting, engineers, enthusiasts, cakes. What more could you want for this glorious English summer?

This year's theme is 'Fun and Affordable', which hopefully strikes a chord with many of this esteemed forum's participants. A new feature will be a large 'coolboard' with the photos sent in by yourselves for placing in 'correct' order. Debating aside, it's a terrific opportunity to scan the breadth of LAA aircraft and see the typical operating costs that the owners are enjoying. Still harbour a thought that operating Certified aircraft is maybe a similar cost? Come along and find out.

We've got LAA mugs (cups, not people), tee shirts and all the usual mechandise, plus there will be some special membership deals available to tempt your buddies who haven't yet seen the light.

We hope you can make it. Spread the word please.

Well done to all those that helped at the LAA Tent, the turn out of aircraft, volunteers and staff did an excellent job, would be interesting to know how many new members joined the LAA over the weekend ?

Hi Will,

I believe that we were about 30% up on last year, but I haven't seen the final numbers.

I would like to thank you and all the members that brought their aircraft in for the static display and those that brought exhibits and carried out demonstrations. We had very positive feedback from visitors, members and exhibitors.

David Hanchet, Mike Clews, Jim Musty and the Royal Berkshire Strut deserve a special mention for all their hard work in pulling it all together.

It gets better each year and I'm sure that next year will be better still.

We will be looking to see if we can find a way to increase the availability of arrival slots for LAA members.

Got the rough figure today, approx 40 new members joined at the show, a good result and a lot of twitter about LAA aircraft being more afforable etc, well done to all who helped supported or otherwise.

We arrived early on the Saturday just in time to see the front entrance to the LAA marquee (large and largest on site) being opened up. What a sight! Every conceivable type of homebuilt on display, from single seat to fourseat, encompassing tin, timber and tupperware types, as Cliff Piper used to say. (How proud he would have been to see the Strut and Homebuilder sections.) It looked and felt just like a PFA Rally.
A great big thanks to Mike Clews and his hard working Royal Berkshire Strut crew.
And, they gave us pride of place to display G-SPDY, the Devon Youth Build a Plane Project, on Saturday and Sunday, even arranging hangarage at White Waltham until Tuesday when we flew "Speedy" back to Devon.
Thanks Mike and Co; a great weekend.

HI Mark, I'm afraid it didn't happen due to lack of interest from members. To be fair we really should have floated the idea from the outset rather than add it at a late stage. Maybe we should be looking to do it at Sywell, a more logical event for it.

Moves are afoot to have an exhibitors area at Sywell, including some sort of flea market, all pitch sale proceeds are generously remaining with the LAA - i.e. Mike Bletsoe-Brown isn't charging as we asked to keep any proceeds for 2010 seed funding and he kindly agreed.

Great write up Peter on the web front page and the photo of the badged marquee, matching RV10, banners etc looks great.
Totally vindicates the PFA to LAA rebranding I think.
Looks very slick & professional - congratulations to everyone who was involved.
Good to be preaching to the non-converted too.
I'm proud to be part of the LAA.
