Seaside Recommendations...

Hi All,
I'd like to canvas opinion regarding the best seaside destinations for the novice pilot (and family) to visit.

Skegness and Cromer, I'm aware of. Clacton sounds tricky for the novice. Can anyone add to the list?

Sandown, IOW. Short walk to the beach. Clacton can't be regarded as trickier than Cromer, surely?

Ahh...the 'new' Cromer has a choice of longer runways compared to the old. Upto 615m now if the winds blowing right.

Lundy, (not suitable for a newly qualified PPL, but nevertheless terrific scenery), Roserrow (golf clubhouse restaurant on site, or a walk to the surf), Bolt Head (a walk or taxi ride to the nearest cafes) , Perranporth, nice beaches and friendly natives ..........

Shoreham(walk),Manston (taxi),Lydd(taxi), Southend(bus or taxi) all suitable for a newly qualified pilot.Your spoilt for choice.

Kingsmuir (Fife Scotland) 3 miles from much of the beautiful Fife coast. 620 metres grass.

Quite a hike from Sywell though.

Suggest you check the NOTAM for Sandown, - not good.

I went there on Saturday. If you are a flight not requiring a licenced airfield, nothing has changed except needing PPR by phone. Even that they don't seem to be taking very seriously.

I was just catching up with the thread on this subject in Another Place and it would appear that in practical terms at the moment, there's no problem for most.

What's worrying is the threat of 'development'. Regarding airfields, this has to be an oxymoron.
