Sherburn Great Northern Rally next weekend Aug 8/9

Post by Nigel Hitchman » Mon Aug 03, 2009 3:01 pm

As there seems to be little on this on the LAA website I thought Id provide some information.

this page gives details of the Rally on the Sherburn aeroclub website

http://www.sherburn-aero-club.org.uk/in ... &Itemid=80

They would like you to pre-register by filling in a form on the website. Reading this page of the website it would seem that this is a requirement, but reading the document it seems that you can register by phone with your PPR on the day 01977 682674.
They would prefer you fill in the form to help with the admin and also I guess to keep the phone free for PPR on the day.

Lets hope the weather is good and lots of aircraft arrive. I hope to be there on Saturday, hope to see lots of you there.

I've filled in the form and emailed it off. No acknowledgement (yet). Does this count as obtaining PPR (which the web says is mandatory)?

Mike,
as I read the documents you need to phone too.

I have nothing to do with the organisation at Sherburn, I just thought Id bring it to members attention as there was nothing nuch elsewhere and I want to see as many aircraft as possible at Sherburn! I see there is something on the LAA homepage now.

cheers

Nigel
I'll look out for you Ian, I should be in RV6 BZRV.

Routing to Sherburn

Post by John Brady » Fri Aug 07, 2009 9:55 am

I had a call from Doncaster radar who suggested 2 preferred routes to Sherburn to ease congestion and to enable them to give a radar service to as many aircraft as want one. They suggest routing along or west of a line between Clumber Park VRP to Wadworth VRP (along the AI(M)) or following the Trent. I have checked this with the CFI at Sherburn who says it is a good plan.

Also be aware that there is also a fly-in at Gamston on Saturday with an air display 3nm radius to 2500 ft alt. The NOTAM says valid 0800z to 1700z but the actual display is 1100z to 1230z

Yea - for Doncaster to see more than 3 movements a day must terrify them....
