Help the police catch the engine thieves

Post by Graham Wiley » Fri Sep 04, 2009 3:29 pm

Following the theft of three engines from Otherton, the Staffordshire police are considering a coordinated nationwide investigation. Up to now each force has dealt with each incident locally. DNA evidence has now been obtained. If the police can collate all the evidence from all the crimes through out the country the chances of catching and prosecuting the perpetrators is increased. It’s up to us in the flying community to do what we can to help. Can anyone who knows of similar engine thefts occurring in the last 12 months please let me know when, where and any other details. I will collate this information and pass it on to the police.

Thanks
Graham

Graham

I am surprised no one has yet mentioned the recent engine theft from Croft Farm, Defford.

My hanger is virtually between there and Otherton, I hope they get caught before doing our airfield.

Engine engraving has been mentioned at our strut, but I don't think that will be much of a deterrent in the dark, and will only maybe aid return.

Better would be a bright 'Warning! Engine Traceable' flag sewn onto the cowling cover (assuming the thieving b****s can read).
