VW Head Conversion
I have to convert 2 new VW heads to twin plug config. I have machinery and two buggered heads but but lack a drawing to help complete the operation. I would appreciate the loan or a copy of same if anyone can help.
VW Heads
I have a copy of the Peacock converstion plans. I can scan the relevant sheet and email you. This will come out a bit dark as the original is also dark but will be readable and have the information you require. If interested please pm me with your email address. I am assuming this will not upset any copy right holder!
Just hi-jacking your thread. Has anybody advice on what sparkplugs to use. (VW/Peacock conversion 1776cc) I have just finished re building my engine. I have swoped the ingnition from mags to Leburg. The heads have one 14mm and 1 10mm sparkplug thread per cylinder. I left the original plugs in when I sent the heads to have new guides and seats fitted. They came back without the sparkplugs and like an idiot I had not made a note of the grade fitted.

The Peacock design needs you to back-cut the faces for the plugs whilst the (I think) ACRO heads were at an angle that allowed you to do the job on a mill and then weld a patch repair over a small hole milled in the rocker area. Much easier, in my opinion.
Strangely, I've just unpacked the same info for Ron Tickner to pick up in half an hour, plus a pair of heads (ACRO and Peacock)
I've an idea that Ron might be making a set of jigs that will knock spots off my attempts!
Ron and I are both near Cardiff.

I know it has been covered before, but, Champion plugs are cut threads whilst NGK etc use rolled threads. The difference is that the Champion ones can more easily knacker the soft alloy threads in the VW heads.
I have a copy of the Peacock drawings here, if you need them. They were recently also available from the PF....err LAA for a few quid.
If you use 55 degrees and 37 degrees for the angle plate then I think you can cut the holes without having to reverse cut the heads with a back-facing cutter.[/img]
