C90 Voltage regulators - Advice required please

Hi, Thanks for reading, Any help or advice is genuinely appreciated.....

I am looking to replace the Bosch Voltage Regulator on my Continental C90 (My last flight resulted in a precautianary landing when I noticed the voltmeter was creeping over to 15volts +).

The unit fitted is an "American Bosch Voltage Regulator, Type RGS 12A 104 12Volt (I think that is what it says - very faded ??) FOR NEG OR POS GROUND" - which I presume is the original part as fitted to my aircraft when it was factory built in 1960 (Emeraude CP301-C1, G-BLRL)

Does anyone know if these Bosch items can still be sourced or reconditioned in the UK ? or what the "other options" are please ?

Or probably even better - does anyone know of a modern equivalent part (Lighter Solid State ?) with the same 3 terminal configuration ? (the Bosch Unit is very heavy).

You might like to try Pete Smoothy at Airworld. He stocks most Jodel/Emeraude items. Failing that try Skycraft. Original equipment would be AC-Delco.
Just out of interest, does your Emeraude have a genny field switch ? It's certainly a useful item as it allows you to kill the genny output and just use the battery, if you do have high volts.

Thanks for the reply. I have just had a look at the Airworld Website and it looks as though they sell something very similar to my Bosch unit.
My Emeraude (a Scintex built model) has three "Main" Switches, (Master, Generator and Fuel Pump), so I guess switching the Gen switch to "off" in flight would be good advice if it happens again in the future.

I'd look at the Zeftronics solid state ones. Being solid state they are much quieter, electrically, and ought to be more reliable. I think they have a website.

Aircraft Spruce (UK agent LAS Aero) certainly used to stock Zeftronics kit.

I concur with the Zeftronics regulator, easy to fit no noise and self diagnosing. No ajustment required, similar price. Pete Smoothy will supply or Aircraft parts.
You will need to know the generator output, that's all.
