Post by Sicobra »

Our small team in a Jodel D11a needs a C90 crankcase if anyone has a good serviceable unit available, either both halfs or if not the left hand side one, we have just discovered a crack around the central bearing casting in ours!!!! please either PM me or call me on 07753 868431 ASAP with anything you may have available, cheers, Simon

You need a set, as they are linebored, The early ones broke off the casting where the half bolts were fitted even from new as the bolts were tightened with oil in the bottom of the hole.
Get a set of later cases with through bolts, much stronger and reliable.

I have a complete C90-8F crankcase that you might be interested in. It has a few minor scratches where the cylinders were prised off by an amatuer, but they can easily be dressed out. I have experienced the central bearing cracks that you are now familiar with in a previous engine, and this one looks to be perfect. Email me at; [email protected] or phone 07743268006. Regards Alan.

Hi Simon, you can also use O-200 cases. These don't have the centre main bearing studs, they have through bolts, a much better idea. I had the same problem some years ago, split the cases and the bearing web and studs just lifted out the case, it's unfortunately a common problem. My O-200 cases had Lord mounts instead of the old conical rubbers but otherwise I don't remember there being any major issue with the swap-over. Good luck, hope you are back in the air again very soon.
