French Customs Airfields

Post by drvale »

The French are reducing Customs Airfields again by 13. It appears they do not want to adopt our GAR system. SO if you fly at all to France please go and sign the petition to keep them open. It is in French but the petition part only requires your email address and please add a comment in English as well.

Thanks David,

All done and no problem as the bit that matters is entirely in English.
I put in a good word for Abbeville as it's within safe reach from Sussex, sells Mogas and being inland - unlike LeTouquet - doesn't suffer from over powerful coastal wind which at times make it a hairy option.

I've been trying to spread this about, as many don't frequent forums or faceache etc. There's still a way to go to reach 2,500.

Abbeville will be a huge loss to many of us.

Too late. The 13 customs airfields have already been removed from the list of border crossing points. No amount of signatures, especially of foreigners, will make any difference now.

Donald, thanks for the bad news! But I looked at the document you mention and indeed Abbeville is not in it. But I looked at the date and it appeared to be June 2016. However I cleared customs twice at Abbeville In Sept 2016 as I know did many others. So all a bit confusing!
The official AIP entry for Abbeville still says customs with 4 hours notice.
I shall sign the petition!

Nigel,

The document is dated 29.10.2016. You are probably confused by it stating it is an update of the information published in the OJ of 30.6.2016 (which included the 13 customs airfields mentioned in the petition).

As usual, it will take time for the AIP to be up-dated.
