As a newbie to flying i was really excited to go to Aero Expo Friday , and while there was lots to see and i had a few good chats with some people on the stands, i came away a little disappointed. As a first time show goer i didnt know what to expect and was wondering what others thought?...Also has anyone also been to the LAA rally as im looking at going to that as well and wanted to know where to pitch my expectations.
Thanks.

Re: LAA Rally vs Aero Expo
Good evening Derek,
I've been going to the Rally for many years and think it's fabulous: loads of very interesting aircraft, mostly home built but including the occasional war bird (there's a Spitfire based at Sywell).
For aviators the exhibtion area is also most interesting and there's a Sywell Museum on site too.
The Aerodrome hotel will almost certainly already be fully booked but there are local B&Bs if you live a long way off, and the Hotel restaurant is open to all. Many visitors camp or caravan on the campsite, which is just over the road from the airfield entrance. The field also doubles as the Rally car park.
In addition, there are fast food outlets and in the evening a buffet supper and bar in Hangar 2.
In short, the atmosphere is terrici: 100% light aviation with the emphasis on recreational flying. For my money it's a must.
Best wishes and happy landings,
Harry Hopkins
