Renewing your Radio Licence

Post by WBerry »

Hi,
I just thought about renewing my Radio Licence (they're only good for 5 yrs). I looked on the CAA website and found a complex form that made no sense to me.

Does anyone out there know what the procedure is?

Cheers.

Bit confused here. When I had a stand alone cardboard radio licence it was good forever just like my PPL. However, the FRTOL in my JAR licence is part of the licence and has the same renewal date as it. When I renewed my JAR licence the FRTOL was reissued as part of it.

Hmm, I had a JAR PPL (hence 5 yrs I suppose) then switched to NPPL. I didn't get a seperate Radio Licence with that (as far as I'm aware).

When I was a glider pilot I had a stand alone FRTOL unconnected with any licence. Why don't you contact the CAA and ask.

Renewing Radio License

I have a JAR PPl and I have just submitted it to an instructor following BFR check flight (as he has to evaluate my standard of Engish for RT at this time)
How JAR would expect someone training in England not to be able to converse is beyond me obviously another benefit of EU machinations.

I queried the FRTOL renewal as I was under the impression that it is for 10 years but he tells me it is for 11 years

If you are renewing a flight crew licence (eg JAR-PPL) SRG/1106 notes tell you to just fill in sections 1,2 and 7. All the rest are for people not currently flying here, or applying for the first time etc.

The regs are on LASORS if you want to see them. I've tried putting a URL up, but it seems to blank the whole message!
